Parknasilla Hotel - Sneem

Location. The Parknasilla Hotel is located three kilometres from the Irish town of Sneem, County Kerry, Southern Ireland. It is set in 500 acres of grounds encompassing countryside and the Atlantic coast.
Hotel Features. This three storey country house hotel is set in a Victorian building in a baronial style with later additions. The full service health spa has 13 treatment rooms offering a range of complementary therapies, beauty services and massages, and there is also a manicure, pedicure and hair bar. Multilingual staff at the 24 hour front desk can offer currency exchange, concierge services and the use of a safe deposit box. A 24 hour room service menu is offered, as are a porter and complimentary onsite parking.

The Parknasilla Hotel's Pygmalion Restaurant serves Irish dishes, including freshly caught fish, in a Victorian dining room overlooking Kenmare Bay. A complimentary breakfast is served daily.

The hotel is set in a 500 acre estate which includes a ruined castle, and there are marked walking paths; guided walks are available (surcharge). There are two all weather floodlit tennis courts, a croquet lawn, a 12 hole golf course and archery, clay pigeon shooting and horse riding on offer. The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool, and daily cruises (surcharge) of Kenmare Bay leave from the hotel during summertime.

Guestrooms. The 83 guestrooms have light decor and traditional furnishings; many with sea views. All are equipped with satellite television, complimentary bottled water and minibars. Other standard amenities include complimentary toiletries, hair dryers and makeup mirrors.

Expert Tip. George Bernard Shaw stayed at Parknasilla and described it as, 'a place of long sea views and intricate walks between ferns and fuschias, rock and rhododendron, to burnt out castles lost within woods...this place does not belong to any world that you and I have ever lived in.'
