Carlton Abbey Hotel - Athy

Location. The Carlton Abbey Hotel is located in Athy, County Kildare, Ireland, 250 metres from the centre of this small country market town, and 24 kilometres from the Irish National Stud with its Japanese gardens.
Hotel Features. With its imposing stone fa?ade, the Carlton Abbey Hotel was formerly the Sisters of Mercy convent before renovation. The hotel's C Spa offers facial treatments, massage and beauty services including holistic treatments and body polishes. There is a 21 metre swimming pool, a sauna and Turkish bath, and a gym with cardiovascular fitness equipment. Benedict's restaurant serves dishes such as Shellfish Bisque and Pot roasted Jump of Lamb, and the Abbey Bar and Bistro, converted from the old church and featuring a ceiling rising 60 feet high, serves sandwiches and light snacks. Expert Tip. The Irish National Stud farm just south of Kildare incorporates ornamental Japanese gardens reflecting the beliefs of its founder, Colonel Hall Walker. His inspired, if eccentric, views on horse breeding were highly successful.
